#MeToo
The Situation
The #MeToo movement is a global movement where women and some men have been coming forward to share their stories of inappropriate behaviour and sexual harassment. The #MeToo hashtag spread quickly on Twitter during October 2017. It was used to help bring publicity to sexual assault and harassment. The movement especially concerns harassment in the workplace. The movement stemmed from the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein.Alyssa Milano popularized the phrase by encouraging people to share it on Twitter for awareness. It was to help people realize how common sexual harassment was. The "Time's Up" movement is an initiative that helps fight sexual harassment in the workplace by providing funds to victims for legal help and by raising awareness. The movement is to empower women to come forward with their stories and to bring justice to these crimes. These movements work towards the protection of women's rights and to stop sexual harassment against men and women.

My Thoughts
I too believe that this is a very important movement. It is eye-opening to see the extent of sexual harassment in our society. This is a great thing as justice is being served and awareness is being spread. One of the most efficient and important ways to fix issues is to spread awareness, and that is exactly what these movements are doing. I think that these issues have been occurring for too long and that this movement is very important to protect people in our society. I like how the movement empowers men and women to come forward with their stories.
Although this movement is definitely beneficial and very important in progressing as a society, there are a few downsides and criticisms I have. For example, some people are abusing the movement to fake allegations. I'm not saying that many of the allegations allegations are fake as I believe a great majority of them are real, however I also believe that some allegations are false. Some people have very unbelievable stories and seem like they are doing it for money, however their stories very well could be true. Another criticism I have is that the movement is not doing much for the men who have been sexually harassed. For example, I remember Terry Crews came forward with his story but I don't recall anything happening after that.

I really like your stance on the some of the negative effects can give with its benefits. Many people overlook the legitimacy of some of these allegations. People , like you mentioned, can cause even bigger problems for people generally trying to create change. Those caught in a lie make everyone question every single person on whether they too are lying or telling the truth. This can cause real victims not to come out as they think people won't believe them. Definitely like how you showed how important movements like these need to work and how hard it actually is.
